Song of the day: Matando Güeros – Brujería

Today is a special day and I want to share one of the funniest songs. Many people might not understand it, but there is a band named “Brujería” (“Witchcraft” in Spanish) that has some powerful songs. This is a Gore Metal band, so don’t expect it to be a pussy-ass rock. It is heavy and brutal.

Now, the thing here is that they have very cool songs, that are not supposed to be taken seriously. That is an important part of their personality as a band. Their lyrics are surrealist, as they are also part of this cruel music and raged feeling while playing. They sing in Spanish or Spanglish, as the band was created mainly by Mexicans (or Chicanos).

The song today is “Matando Güeros” which means “Killing Blondes”. This song gave the band a big success worldwide because of the lyrics, but most of all because of the cover of the album. A bit crude for sensible eyes, it shows a partially burned head being held in the middle of the album cover. It is about Mexicans calling to arms and kill blonde people in the United States. Metal Rooster

I don’t know if I wrote before about this madafaka, but I saw the video time ago and I think it deserves to be remembered. Remember that Rock never dies. Although not so popular as the shit we are used to hear in the radio, the many variations of Rock are always present to satisfy the animal instinct of release tensions and pressures through a powerful shot of Energy directly to the brain.

Metal for cyber-babes

It sounds maybe stupid but well, I was growing up in the 90’s when the hairy metal became massive and commercial (with bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, etc.) but actually it started way before and I dare to say that it was already commercial in the middle 80’s when I was born.

Anyways, Metal has been seen as a style played only by the toughest and most violent guys in the Earth. From this we can extracted way more styles that we can all appreciate as a good Metal, such as Speed, Gore, Thrash, Hair, Glam, Black, Industrial, Doom, Nü, Grunge, Neo-Classical and even a fucking Christian Metal. But still, there is a common in all this bands: Testosterone.

However, Metal has been spreading slow but strongly into many societies and levels. Where are the girls? Well, there are girls but no so known yet, unfortunately. Female metal singers have been showing up lately and are now an important part of gigantic bands like Arch Enemy, Therion, Detente. In the same line we can find even bands formed by girls only, like the Iron Maidens, Kittie, Tijuana Sweetheart, and many others.

But this post is not for the girls with albums and defined musical careers, this post is for the girls that play what they want and become the heart breakers of thousands in the net. KISStoria. Primera Parte.

Cierta tarde acompañé a mi hermano a casa de uno de sus amigos, según le prestaría unos discos de música. Nada me daba más hueva que andar atrás de mi hermano siempre, pero ni modo, reglas de la casa. Al entrar a la habitación de aquel cabrón quedé deslumbrado. Pósters de KISS cubrían el tapiz de esa pequeña habitación. Gene Simmons sobresalía con ese famoso maquillaje y la lengua de fuera, a la par que el riff de Deuce se empezaba a oír de fondo. ¡Utaaaaa!… ambiente de ensueño. Ahí me enamoré de esa bandota llamada mágicamente KISS.
